Owned by the same family for decades, this truck had just about seen it all when we began work on the restoration.
This truck arrived at our shop in pretty rough shape, after many exciting adventures under the same ownership for the last 30 + years.
We began with a media blast on the cab which revealed minimal rust in the rocker panel area, doors, and lower cowl sections. Due to the extent of previous body damage, we elected to replace the truck bed, fenders, and a few other parts with new sheet metal from Dynacorn International and Mar-K Manufacturing.
We were happy to modernize the paint color as well, with GM Burnished Brandy Metallic being the preferred paint color by the owner. The gold stripe around the belt line of the truck adds a nice contrast to the body, as per the owner’s suggestion!
After the body was painted, we were able to re-wire the truck with a new wiring harness, install new door panels and seats from TMI Products, and sound deaden the cab as much as realistically possible while staying within the owner’s budget. The interior was painted to match the upholstery in a satin finish which came out awesome!
The engine and transmission were supplied to us by the owner of the truck. Power comes from a rebuilt early model 327 CID small-block Chevrolet engine, backed by a rebuilt TH400 3 speed automatic transmission. QA1 coil-over suspension all around, with custom independent front suspension, combined with a 4-link rear suspension, make for a nice driving experience.
