This project started as a simple restoration/paint job but turned into a little bit more.
After an engine fire, this truck was left all but abandoned and sold as a project truck. Our work began with sandblasting the cab to remove years of corrosion due to the caustic fire suppressant used to extinguish the previous fire. Once we had the cab to bare metal, we replaced some rusted metal in the rocker panel area, body-worked it to a nice straight attitude, and painted it in beautiful GM 524.
We elected to re-use the factory 3/4 ton axles but replaced the engine with a more modern 6.0L LS from a 2004 truck. The 700R4 transmission was sourced from another project and connected to the factory floor shift transfer case.
The interior was restored to a factory style, with components purchased from LMC truck. In the end, it turned out as a nice cruiser.
