The supercharged SBC was worn out and problematic: we fixed it with an LS.
This ’69 Camaro came to us with many of the usual problems associated with an old supercharged small block chevy. It was hard to start, would stall at the most inopportune times, and was lacking in the power department.
The owner was at a turning point: either fix the ’69 Camaro (his dream car) or sell it and buy a new Corvette. He chose the Camaro.
We began the project by removing the engine, transmission, and all the bald dot rated drag slicks. In went a 6.2L engine, from a Cadillac Escalade, coupled to a 6L80E automatic transmission. We left the 12 bolt rear axle alone but did add a nice new Ridetech Triangulated 4 link rear suspension to help with the handling and power application of the new drivetrain.
All of the wiring and tuning for the engine swap was done in-house, while the gauges were sourced from Dakota Digital. In the end, the car drove much better and received a substantial increase in reliability!
