Every old truck seems to have a great story, and this one is no exception. Purchased new in ’59 by the current owner’s grandfather, this truck saw heavy use as a logging/work truck until the mid-’70s in Oregon State. After it was replaced with a newer truck for daily use, it stayed close to home and grew to be a part of the family.
After nearly a lifetime of service in the same family, the current owner of this truck decided it was time to make it into something truely special
After some time stalled with little progress towards the end goal made, it arrived at our shop to begin a drastic transformation.
The Work Begins
Every old truck seems to have a great story, and this one is no exception. Purchased new in ’59 by the current owner’s grandfather, this truck saw heavy use as a logging/work truck until the mid-’70s in Oregon State. After it was replaced with a newer truck for daily use, it stayed close to home and grew to be a part of the family. After a failed attempt at a restoration from a previous shop (no work really was done), it arrived at our shop to begin a drastic transformation.
Unfortunately, years of use had taken a toll. The rocker panels/steps were heavily rusted, the cab corners were victims of a less-than-ideal previous repair, and the fenders, hood, roof, and bed required major re-working. No task was too difficult for our talented shop team.
Here’s a quick glimpse into some of the build plan for the car:
In no specific order:
- Lots of metal work and replacement
- Premium Akzo Nobel Paint
- Overhauled drivetrain, including a new GM 350ci crate engine
- All new glass and weather stripping
Our restoration process will also include numerous other safety improvements, such as disc brakes, power steering, new lights, new wiring, and an improved drivetrain over stock.
